Aging brings about changes in skin elasticity and facial contours, often leading to sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. For individuals seeking a youthful appearance without the risks or downtime associated with surgery, non-surgical facial lifting with threads has emerged as an innovative and effective solution. Thread lifting provides an immediate lifting effect while stimulating natural collagen production, delivering long-lasting, natural-looking results.
What Are Threads ?
Threads are medical-grade, biodegradable sutures specifically designed for facial rejuvenation and contouring. These threads are typically made of materials such as polydioxanone (PDO), poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), or polycaprolactone (PCL)—all of which are safe and widely used in various medical procedures.
Threads come in different types to address specific concerns:
• Mono Threads: Smooth threads that stimulate collagen production, ideal for skin tightening.
• Barbed Threads: Threads with tiny hooks or barbs that provide a lifting effect by anchoring and repositioning the skin.
• Twist Threads: Coiled threads that provide additional volume and structure to areas like the nasolabial folds or cheeks.
How Do Thread Lift Work?
Thread lifting is a minimally invasive procedure that involves placing the threads beneath the skin to achieve two key outcomes:
1. Immediate Lift: Barbed threads physically lift sagging skin by anchoring it into a more youthful position.
2. Collagen Stimulation: The threads stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid over time, improving skin texture, firmness, and elasticity.
The threads gradually dissolve over 6–12 months, but the collagen they stimulate ensures results last for up to 18–24 months.

· The threads that have been placed to help contour and lift your features take a few days to anchor. During this time, you should take care of them and their placement.
· It is quite normal for the face to feel tight for 4 - 7 days particularly when eating or yawning (you may sometimes feel a sensation of the thread slipping but it will not break).
· Approximately 10% of patients may have a drop of an eyelid or their face for up to 3 hours from the anaesthetic. This will always go away but takes away the wow effect from immediately after the procedure.
· Significant bruising is uncommon i.e. less than 1% of patients but if occurs may take 10 days to resolve.
· Thread tension lines and dimpling may occur but the majority (75%) resolve within 3 – 7 days and most of the rest (24%) within 2 weeks
