As we age, the natural production of collagen in our skin decreases, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and a loss of elasticity. Collagen stimulation treatments using Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) provide a non-invasive, long-lasting solution to restore the skin’s youthful appearance by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. This innovative approach is gaining popularity for its ability to achieve gradual, natural-looking results.
What is PLLA?
Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic polymer that has been used in medical applications for decades, including in dissolvable sutures. In aesthetic medicine, PLLA is used as a collagen stimulator that gradually improves skin volume, texture, and elasticity over time.
PLLA is ideal for individuals seeking:
• A gradual improvement in skin firmness and volume.
• Treatment for deep wrinkles, folds, or hollow areas.
• A non-surgical alternative to facelift or other invasive procedures.
It is particularly beneficial for patients with mild to moderate volume loss who want a natural-looking enhancement without the immediate volume provided by traditional fillers
How Does PLLA Collagen Stimulation Work?
PLLA works by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production process. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate volume by filling in wrinkles or folds, PLLA is injected into the deeper layers of the skin to initiate collagen synthesis.
1. Injection Phase:
PLLA is injected into specific areas of concern, such as the face, neck, décolletage, or hands.
The injected solution initially adds temporary volume, which subsides as the body absorbs the water content.
2. Collagen Stimulation Phase:
Over several weeks, the PLLA microparticles stimulate fibroblasts in the skin to produce new collagen. This leads to a gradual improvement in skin volume, firmness, and texture.
3. Long-Lasting Results:
The treatment is typically performed in a series of 2–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. As collagen builds over time, the skin appears naturally rejuvenated, with results lasting up to 2–3 years.
Benefits of
• Natural Results: Enhances skin volume and reduces wrinkles gradually, avoiding an
overfilled appearance.
